I used to hate vegetables as a kid. Did you? Well, my sister still hates vegetables, fish, and more. I guess you could call her a picky eater. I might also still be considered a picky eater as I hate onions, bitter gourd, and mushy foods.
Personally, when I was younger I thought that all vegetables tasted bad but my parents would always make me eat vegetables. So, what is the parents' point of view?
Dad said, "I personally believe that one can heavily influence what children eat especially while they're young and in a protective environment. If you do not feed them sugar or salt when they're infants till 2-3 years old, they would be totally fine. As for greens and other healthy food, it's about exposing them to those types of food early. By ensuring that they don't become picky eaters, there's a higher chance of a well-balanced diet. We also should push our luck a bit by insisting that they finish whatever that they're served from young. This will reduce the chance for them to be picky eaters. I totally do not agree with parents who say, 'my children don't take vegetables!' It's all about conditioning and continuous education of the benefits of eating vegetables and a healthy diet."
I guess I have somewhat realized the health benefits of eating vegetables and other nutritional foods. They don't necessarily taste good but I do try to eat vegetables nowadays. I think that could also be partly because of how my parents used to scold me if I didn't eat vegetables as a child.
