The name Froggy Freedom was inspired by the Chinese Fable --The Frog In The Well. This is a story about a frog who lived in a well and lived happily. Until one day, a turtle came to the well and told the frog all about what the frog couldn't see from the bottom of the well -- The outside world. The frog didn't know how wonderful life was outside of the well and only knew about the narrow little well he lived in. This story encourages people not to dismiss things that aren't a part of their personal experiences.
So, how is this Chinese fable similar to The Froggy Freedom concept? Think of us children as tadpoles and our parents as frogs. We are all at the bottom of the well. Froggy Freedom shares actual communication between parents and children. The different thoughts and viewpoints are captured, discussed, and challenged in a safe and non-judgemental environment. The exchanges will allow greater understanding amongst all members of the family.
Parents are naturally expected to guide, encourage and give young children as much exposure as possible. Hence, they are expected to be more open-minded and explore the numerous possibilities outside the well to help us thrive in different areas. Parents should make the effort to develop a good understanding and build a strong relationship with their children. In the world we live in today, parents have high expectations, don't have time to think about how their children feel about the different things parents do. Allow us to express our opinions and viewpoints. Leap out of the well, take a look at our thoughts, and improve the mutual understanding, leading to a healthy and happy parent-child relationship.
